Karllina Schmidt had an amazing spirit and zest for life that was infectious. Living by the mantra “Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.” (Dalai Lama) Karllina chose a life of giving and kindness. Her random acts of kindness came naturally to her, leading her to choose a life dedicated to helping others, particularly children. Karllina would set her intention each day to spread kindness, respect, and love to her family, friends, co-workers, and the children she spent her days with at the Wallenpaupack Primary School.

In the spirit of spreading love and kindness, the Karllina Schmidt Memorial Scholarship Fund strives to commemorate the amazing legacy that Karllina has bestowed upon the Wallenpaupack community and the life she shared with her amazing husband, Duane Schmidt and their two wonderful children, Paulina and Arthur. Honoring her passion to teach, ability to embrace differences, and desire to cultivate the development of respectful young people, and their uplifting impact on the community through the family run construction business and long family history in the region.

The Karllina Schmidt Memorial Scholarship Fund will award a graduating senior at Wallenpaupack Area High School a scholarship annually. Graduating seniors accepted into an institution of higher learning such as a college, university, or trade school, intending to study in one of the following areas: Education, Counseling, Art Therapy, Construction, Construction Management, or Entrepreneurship are eligible to apply.

The goal of the Karllina Schmidt Memorial Scholarship Committee is to spread kindness to others as Karllina taught us so well to do. Please share your love, support and kindness to others by helping us to keep Karllina’s spirit alive and allow others to learn to give so freely as she did.
