The Wayne County Farmers Market Senior Nutrition Coupon Program was developed to provide senior citizens on a fixed income access to fresh, nutritious, local food. Anyone 60 years old or over who qualifies can receive vouchers from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture to purchase produce from farmers markets and farm stands. When the vouchers are spent at the Wayne County Farmers Market (WCFM), the customer receives WCFM coupons which they can use to purchase anything at the market such as eggs, vegetables, breads, and meats. Any of the products at the market available each week are eligible. Vendors take the coupons the same as cash and are reimbursed through the Foundation's WCFM Coupon Program fund.

In the first year, the Market reimbursed vendors for $260 - however that was just the beginning. The word spread and the coupon program grew rapidly, doubling and tripling over the following few years, through the pandemic. In 2022, over $2,000 worth of WCFM coupons were redeemed. The success of our endeavor was evident - we were changing lives by helping seniors access fresh, nutritious food each and every week.

In order to keep the program running, however, we need the support of our community members like you. Your donations go directly to purchase WCFM Coupons for seniors trying to stretch their budget to access healthy, locally grown food.

On behalf of the vendors, farmers, producers, and especially the customers of the Wayne County Farmer's Market, we are sincerely grateful for all of your support.
