Onyx, a now 8 month old female Shephard is the new K9 for the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department. Onyx is in the beginning stage of her training. Training occurs once or twice a week until she is ready to take her certification test. She is doing very well and is super smart. Training will be ongoing to keep her sharp.

Along with her handler, Chief Deputy Danene Van Horn, they will be training in drug detection, apprehension and tracking.
